    Wayne is responsible for business strategy, execution, key stakeholder relations and capital raising. Wayne has 15 years of real estate and finance experience having worked on all sides of the table as an originator, lender, asset manager, real estate investor & developer, project manager & property manager.

    Wayne holds a double degree, Bachelor of Business Management & Marketing (Hons), graduating Dux and a Certificate III in Finance and Mortgage Broking Management. Wayne is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and a Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA).

  • Brae Sokolski

    Chief Investment Officer

    Brae is responsible for deal origination, structuring and negotiation. He has extensive industry experience having operated in property and finance markets for over a decade and is a recognised industry expert in real estate debt. Brae has previously worked in senior executive roles within the FMCG industry where he honed his relationship and strategic management capabilities.

    Brae holds a Bachelor of Law and Business Management (Hons).

  • Mark Heaven

    Chief Operating Officer

    Mark is responsible for the corporate and investment operational platform, corporate governance and the corporate financial management function and has 25 years’ experience in finance, strategy, operations and governance, compliance and risk management, including six years at KPMG.

    Over the last 18 years, Mark has held executive roles working in retail and wholesale funds management businesses including Aviva, Colonial, Herschel Asset Management, Perennial Investment Partners and EMR Capital.

    Mark holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) and a Diploma in Financial Services and is a member the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in both Australia, England and Wales.

  • Tony Woods

    Chief Risk Officer

    Tony is responsible for compliance, risk and credit policy and has over 25 years of executive experience at National Australia Bank (NAB) and Australia & New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) Bank, in global leadership roles.

    Tony’s particular expertise is in transactional credit and operating risk, and compliance, risk framework development and testing, having built and led the global risk, business and advisory functions for major Australian banks.

    Tony holds a Bachelor of Economics and is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FFin) and the Australian Institute of Management (FAIM).

  • Eddie Law

    Investment Director

    Eddie is responsible for deal origination, relationship management and executing credit and risk functions in New South Wales, Queensland and ACT.

    He has over 28 years' industry experience with leading financial services and real estate firms. Most recently, Eddie was Global Head of Institutional Property at ANZ Bank based in Sydney. During his 14 years at ANZ, he managed Private Equity, Cross Boarder Asset Leasing, Funds Management and Direct Property Investment.

    Prior to joining ANZ, Eddie worked for commercial financial institutions in both the United Kingdom and Australia and spent six years jointly founding and running an IT Leasing company which was later sold to the Australian subsidiary of a major international bank.

    Eddie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Mathematics and Accounting.

    Investment Director

    Bill is responsible for relationship management, deal origination and executing credit and risk functions in Victoria. He has 17 years’ industry experience, including having spent many years developing business and leading high performing teams at senior levels within National Australia Bank's (NAB) Institutional and Business Bank.

    Bill also brings years of direct credit experience as a Credit Executive at NAB and prior, as a Compliance Manager at Deutsche Bank in London.

    Bill holds a Diploma in Finance and Mortgage Broking Management, Certificate IV in Finance and Certificate III in Banking, and is a Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA).

  • David O'Connor

    Investment Director

    David is responsible for business development, senior relationship management and the execution of institutional debt solutions, focusing primarily on debt solutions for value-add and core real estate strategies. He has 19 years' industry experience with leading financial services firms and commercial information and insight firms, including Thomson Reuters, Dun & Bradstreet and Westpac.

    David previously led Westpac's Institutional Property division in Melbourne and was responsible for some of the country's largest REITS, wholesale funds, pension funds and family offices.

    David holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Science.

    Marketing Director

    Fidelma is responsible for the development and implementation of the marketing and brand strategy to drive client engagement.

    She is a senior marketing and communications specialist with over 22 years' experience in the financial services and consulting sectors. Prior to joining MaxCap, Fidelma spent the last six years as the Head of Marketing, Management Consulting & Advisory at KPMG. She has a strong financial services background and a track record of success in developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies both locally and internationally.

    Fidelma has a Master of Business Studies, Bachelor of Commerce (Banking and Finance), Diploma in Marketing and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

  • Chris van Beek

    Distribution Director

    Chris is responsible for capital raising with institutional and semi institutional clients on a global basis.
    He has a deep understanding of real estate as an asset class with more than 15 years’ industry experience across the Asia-Pacific region.

    His career commenced at Colliers and CBRE and he has spent the last decade in capital raising and investment related roles for Aberdeen Asset Management and more recently at UBS Asset Management.

    At UBS, he was Executive Director, Real Estate & Private Markets, Asia Pacific based in Singapore. In this role, he was responsible for institutional and private fund-raising activities, equity and debt, covering both direct and multi-manager strategies implemented through comingled funds, separate accounts, club deals and joint ventures.

    Investment Director - WA

    Ben is responsible for business development and growth of MaxCap’s business in WA, as well as senior relationship management of Borrowers and Corporate, Private and Institutional Investor clients.

    He has over 20 years’ of Australian real estate finance experience across both institutional and commercial banking; having held senior lending and risk roles in both Sydney and Perth for Westpac and NAB. In addition, Ben is an Associate Member of the API, commencing his career as a valuer where he covered all sectors of the West Australian property market.

    Ben holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Property) Curtin University.

  • Michael Nitschke

    Investment Director - QLD

    Michael is responsible for business development and growth of MaxCap’s business in QLD, as well as senior relationship management of Borrowers and Corporate, Private and Institutional Investor clients.

    He has more than 18 years’ Australian real estate finance experience, including senior roles at Bank of Queensland as National Manager of Property Finance and at Deutsche Bank as Co-Head of Real Estate Debt.

    Michael holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) RMIT, and Masters of Applied Finance Macquarie University.

    Associate Director

    Ben is responsible for financial modelling and credit analysis. Ben has had diverse property experience having worked as a solicitor, specialising in commercial lending, property law and litigation as well as a financial analyst at a mortgages and investments fund.

    Ben holds a Bachelor of Commerce/Laws and is admitted as a Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Victoria. Ben is also a CFA charter holder.

  • Kate Luscombe

    Senior Executive - Investment

    Kate is responsible for business development, credit structuring and relationship management. She has 10 years' experience in banking and real estate finance, across corporate and commercial real estate, real estate development, securitisation, distressed assets and debt restructuring.

    Kate has held roles at QIC and Bankwest in Australia, and at Deutsche Bank and Lloyds Banking Group in London.

    Kate holds a Bachelor of Business Management.

  • Greg Anderson

    Senior Executive - Investment

    Greg is responsible for managing the larger and more complex opportunities within the investment team. He has diverse industry experience in banking, real estate finance and law.

    Greg has held roles at Westpac Institutional Bank in their Institutional Property and Legal & Compliance teams, and prior to that was a Lawyer with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).

    Greg holds a Bachelor of Business (Economics) with Distinction and Bachelor of Laws (Hons). He is also admitted as a Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland.

  • Jen Tian

    Senior Executive - Investment

    Jen is responsible for the origination of new business opportunities and the execution of deals.

    Jen has over 10 years' experience in corporate and commercial banking and more recently spent three years at NAB as a Senior Business Banking Manager where she was responsible for the management and growth of a portfolio of commercial clients.

    Jen has a Bachelor of Corporate Finance, Master of Business Administration, Master of Commerce (Accounting) and is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA).

  • Joe O'Dwyer

    Senior Executive - Investment

    Joe is responsible for business development, transaction structuring and execution and relationship management. He has more than 12 years industry experience in Melbourne, Sydney and Washington DC at leading financial services firms, managing large and complex transactions for clients across financial markets and the property sector.

    Most recently, Joe was a Director at Mizuho Bank where he established and ran their Property Finance business. Prior to this, he was at ANZ for almost 10 years where he managed and developed a portfolio of institutional property clients following trading and relationship management roles in ANZ’s financial markets and institutional lending businesses.

    Joe holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and Bachelor of Arts (Political Science).

    Galen is responsible for institutional capital raising, investor relations and business development. He has 5 years’ industry experience including Associate Director at ANZ and WBC Institutional Bank.

    Galen has built a successful career by developing trusted relationships with clients, investors, and consultants. His experience is in strategic planning, transactional structuring, credit assessment and product offerings based on prevailing market conditions.

    Galen holds a Bachelor of Commerce/Economics and a Graduate Certificate in Management.

    Private Capital Director

    Ben is responsible for private capital raising, business development and relationship management for our valued private investor base. He has more than 15 years’ experience in finance, sales and the construction market in Melbourne and Sydney.

    Ben has extensive experience dealing with Family Offices and High Net Worth individuals from his years spent in equities markets. Most recently he held a role as National Sales Manager for one of Australia’s largest wholesalers to the Construction industry, dealing directly with developers and builders at the tail end of the development process.

    Ben holds a Bachelor of Business (Marketing), Diploma of Financial Planning and is a Graduate of the NSW Executive Leaders Series.

  • Richard Jenkins

    National Research Director

    Richard is responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing management of MaxCap's inaugural research function.

    Richard has over 15 year's experience in property research and analysis within a range of property organsations including real estate agencies, independent property consultants and specialist valuation companies. Most recently, Richard lead Charter Hall's research function providing research and analysis for their Investment Relations team.

    Richard has a Graduate Diploma of Applied Science, Statistics and a Bachelor of Science, Mathematics, Psychology.

  • Ged Nolan

    Senior Executive - Credit & Valuations

    Ged is responsible for managing credit risk and approvals for all projects. He is also responsible for the oversight and approval of the valuation process, along with the review of individual valuations.

    Ged has over 20 years' industry experience including financial analysis, modelling and credit writing, valuation and property risk management.

    Prior to joining Maxcap Ged spent four years heading up Bendigo & Adelaide Bank's Property Risk Management function.

    Ged has a master of Business Administration (Banking), Bachelor of Science (Valuation & Estate Development), Diploma in Property Investment and a Diploma in Valuation and Land Administration. He is also a MRICS Chartered Valuer and a RICS VIC/TAS Executive Committee Member.

  • Royston Toh

    Senior Executive - Risk

    Royston is responsible for managing the construction risk for the firm's construction-lending investment transactions. He is a certified quantity surveyor with more than 17 years' industry experience.

    Prior to joining MaxCap he spent five years as the Associate Director of Construction Risk Management at National Australia Bank (NAB), managing construction risk in the Business and Corporate Bank division. Royston has held senior roles at Kane Constructions, Harris HMC Construction in Melbourne and KPK Quantity Surveyors in Singapore.

    Royston holds a Bachelor of Applied Science, Construction Management (Hons), is MRICS Chartered Quantity Surveyor and an AIQS affiliate.

  • Olivia Sturgess

    General Counsel

    Olivia is responsible for the effective and proactive management of all legal due diligence on transactions, transaction structuring, execution and co-ordination of settlements, and draw-downs on facility loans.

    Olivia has extensive experience in all aspects of property law, retail and commercial leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, commercial contracts and foreign investment review board matters.

    Her previous experience includes legal roles at a specialist property and commercial law firm, with Minter Ellison and as a member of the Viva Energy in-house legal team.

    Olivia has been admitted to the Victorian Legal Admissions Board and holds a Bachelor of Laws/Commerce (Hons).
