Steven McElwain

Steven McElwain is a Non-Executive Director at MaxCap Group, bringing over 20 years of experience in real assets, distressed investing, and principal finance. Serving on the Board of Directors, he specialises in opportunistic real estate, mezzanine debt, and non-performing loan portfolios, and plays a vital role in guiding strategic growth and risk oversight.

Before joining MaxCap Group’s board, Steven worked at Apollo as Partner, Real Assets, where he leads major investments across global markets. He also held senior leadership roles at Shinsei Bank in Tokyo and Shinsei International in Frankfurt, overseeing international principal investments in distressed loans and real estate. Earlier in his career, he served as a senior manager with Ernst & Young Asia Pacific Financial Solutions in Tokyo and Taipei, advising on significant non-performing loan transactions across Asia and Europe.

Steven holds a BS and an MBA from the University of Arizona.
